Ottawa Children's Festival


May 10th-14th, 2017
Lebreton Flats

Since 1985, the Ottawa Children’s Festival (OCF) has hosted an annual celebration of the best in live performing arts for children. Creating programs for children aged two to 15, the Festival focuses on enriching school curriculum and promoting the arts as an integral part of children’s education; strives to present work that excites and challenges audiences of all ages; and prides itself on developing and producing award winning programming that comes from across Canada and around the world. Schools, community groups, caregivers and families of children age two to 15 are the target audience of the OICF.

This festival has a lot of great free activities including a climbing wall, an Active Zone, a Construction Zone, A Petting Zoo, Salsa Kids, Archery, Painting and so much more.

Thomas Tree Farm (North Gower) Saturday, November 26th 2016
Full Service - 9 AM TO 5 PM
Wagon rides, hot chocolate and cookies.
Monday to Friday
Self Service - 9 AM TO 1 PM
You cut the tree but we will help you clean and wrap it.
Full Service - 1 PM TO 5 PM

Hillcrest Tree Farm (Manotick) We will be opening starting November  26th  for 2016 season. Weekends: open 9:00  -  5:00pm Complimentary with tree purchase: tree shaking and baling, bonfire,  hot drinks (and candy canes for the kids!)  Wagon rides on the weekends,  sleigh rides Dec. 3 & 4 and  Dec. 10 &11 10:30 - 3:00 pm,  weather permitting.

Remembrance Day Ceremonies Ottawa



National Remembrance Day Ceremony

7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the National War Memorial.
From 9:00 – 10:00 am, the Virtual Wall of Honour and Remembrance will be displayed on these screens. Canadians have been “building” this virtual wall of almost 2000 photographs of Veterans who have now passed. It is a way for all Canadians to pay tribute to their service.
Veterans Parade
All Veterans are welcome to join the Veterans Parade. Please arrive at the form up point, on Wellington Street, corner of Elgin (near the East Block), no later than 10:10 am. You may also gather in the Adam Room, Fairmont Chateau Laurier any time after 8:00 am.  The parade will step off at 10:30 am en route to the National War Memorial.
10:20 am-Marching Contingents arrive at the Memorial, 10:57 am- O Canada, 11:00 am- Two Minutes of Silence, Prayers, Placing of Wreaths, 11:30 am- God Save the Queen, March Off

Barrhaven

10:30am to 11:30 am Parade Maches from John McCraie Secondary School to Walter Baker where refreshments will be served.

Centrepointe

10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Royal Canadian Legion  marching from Centrepointe Drive between Constellation Crescent  and Chrysalis Way.

Kanata

10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Marches east on The Parkway between Earl of March High School and Teron Road, then south on Teron Road to Colchester Square, and then west on Campeau Drive to the John Mlacak Centre. 

Manotick

10:30 a.m. to noon. Marches east on Beaverwood Road from the Royal Canadian Legion to Manotick Main Street; then north on Manotick Main Street to Clapp Lane, then east on Clapp Lane to the Manotick Cenotaph for the ceremonial service. It will continue down Dickinson Street to Mill Street, west on Mill Street to Manotick Main Street, south on Manotick Main Street to Beaverwood Road, and west on Beaverwood Road to the Royal Canadian Legion. 

Navan

10:30 a.m. to noon. Marches down Colonial Road between Henn Drive and Delson Drive and continues to the Navan Cenotaph for a service.

Orléans

10:30 to 11 a.m. Marches down Taylor Creek Boulevard between Vimont Court and the Royal Canadian Legion and continues to the Orleans Cenotaph for the ceremonial service. 

Osgoode

10:45 a.m. to noon. Marches down Victoria Street between Eighth Line Road and Louise Street and continues to the ceremonial service at the Osgoode Cenotaph.

Richmond

10:45 a.m to noon. Service at Perth Street between the Richmond Shopping Plaza and the Richmond Memorial Park.

Vanier

1:30 to 3 p.m. Marches north on Cyr Avenue between the Royal Canadian Legion and Montreal Road, then east on Montreal Road to Hannah Street, and north on Hannah to Marier Avenue, then to the Vanier Cenotaph for the ceremonial service.

Stittsville

1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Marches north on Stittsville Main Street between the Royal Canadian Legion and Warner-Colpitts Lane, then west on Warner-Colpitts Lane to the Stittsville Cenotaph for the ceremonial service.

Westboro

1:30 to 3 p.m. Marches north on Winston Avenue at the legion to Madison Avenue, then east on Madison to Churchill Avenue, then south on Churchill to Richmond Road, and then west on Richmond to Broadview Avenue and the Westboro Cenotaph, forllowed by Wreath laying service at Westboro Cenotaph.
*As Canada’s National Military Cemetery, Beechwood is a natural gathering place for recognizing the bravery and sacrifice of the country’s fallen heroes.

Also this year, we have partnered with Ash Meadow Farm Carriage Company to offer horse-drawn carriage rides. This feature is not included in the admission price and tickets must be purchased in advance. Dance the night away to their rockin' DJ; enjoy tasty hors d'oeuvres a fabulous ice cream sundae bar and candy buffet; meet princesses; have a royal portrait taken (additional cost); and more! Each princess will also receive a special "royal gift" to take home. There will be games and other activities as well. It's a truly magical night that will make memories to last a lifetime!

There is no age limit. Dress in your best or come in jeans - it's up to you!

Advance tickets are $35/couple and $5/each additional princess. Tickets at the door (unless sold-out) are $40/couple and $7/each additional princess. Advance tickets are available at the Maple Ridge Centre or via e-mail money transfers to info@mapleridgecentre.com - please send separate email indicating name of guests, address to send the royal invitation, and security question & answer. We do anticipate this will be a sold-out event so purchase your tickets early to avoid disappointment!

This year, in honour of Remembrance Day and those who serve our country, we will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Chesterville Legion as well as providing free admission to our service men and their princesses so please contact us to secure your ticket if you are a member of the Canadian forces. Also, please note that if you have a little princess that does not have a father-figure in her life, we are happy to provide an honorary chaperone for her. Please contact us in advance to make arrangements.
