New Year's Eve Ideas for the Kids

Are you planning on staying home with your family and the children this New Year's Eve? Here are some creative ideas to keep the night eventful.

1. Try dressing the kids up fancy and making some fancy food and drinks.
Click HERE for a list of delicious Mocktails, you can also try freezing different coloured juice in ice cube trays and serving them with club soda or sprite, watch the drink change colours as they melt.

2. Have a board game night and give out small prizes for the winners

3. Make a scrap book of your favourite events from the past year. You can add pictures, stickers don't forget to write down some of your favourite memories.

4.Make Special Hats for New Year's Eve (click here for instructions)

5. I saw this cute Idea and had to share. Make New Year's Eve Countdown Bags. The idea is that each bag has a time on it, and at that time you can open it and complete the activity (crafts, scavenger hunt, trivia, games etc.)

6. Be sure to visit the Dollar store and stock up on sound makers, silly string, balloons or streamers to ring in the new year, have the kids help decorate during the day. Try placing Glow sticks inside Balloons and blow them up, this creates floating lights for extra fun decorations.

7. Have a Fondue Party, you can warm chocolate in a slow cooker or double boiler and dip some yummy fruit or marshmallows for a special treat.

8. Make a pinata and fill it with goodies to break later in the evening.

9. Sit together and write out your resolutions for the year (Free Printable)

10. Here is a list of fun New Year's Crafts for the kiddos.

Have a Safe and Happy New Year with your families!!

New Year's Eve @ Landsdowne Park

TD HOGMANAY - Free New Year's  Eve - with Glass Tiger and family activities

Start Date: Wednesday, 31 December 2014
Time: 6:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Aberdeen Pavilion, Landsdowne Park -1015 Bank Street
All Ages | Free

The Scottish Society of Ottawa has announced it will host another free party on December 31, presented by TD. This year, the free event will take place indoors at the Aberdeen Pavilion, part of the new Lansdowne Park. This year’s main attraction at TD Hogmanay ’14, will be Scots-Canadian rock legends, Glass Tiger. The evening starts at 6pm inside the Aberdeen Pavilion, with an indoor ceilidh, with Scottish dancing and music, the Glengarry Pipe Band, Scotch tasting, skating on the ice rink adjacent to the pavilion and fireworks at midnight. For the little ones, there will be face-painting – Braveheart blue was a favourite last year - and colouring on the Scottish Wall of Fame.
