Agriculture Awareness Displays abound in the Entertainment/Agriculture Tent
Provincial Milk Board’s display is on site Friday Saturday and Sunday with loads of information, handouts etc. on the dairy industry in Ontario. The youth may enjoy milking a ”cow”. HINT - bring Grandpa and Grandma along to show you how and to share their stories of fun in the byre.
A Bee Keeper is on hand to give you a glimpse of the art of honey production. Chat with the keeper and learn how different plants can affect the taste of the honey or find out what bees do in the winter? Be sure to sample the golden nectar.
Chat with the Lanark Dairy Educator and learn how the dairy industry and its many products affect our daily lives.
The static interactive displays throughout the tent will test your knowledge of all things agriculture. How much does a cow drink in one day? How many stomachs does a cow have? Can you find the hen’s tooth?
Now that your curiosity has been peeked by the displays on Saturday you can stay for a show –“ASK A FARMER”, – and get answers to all your questions.
Ask A Farmer
Show Times – Saturday at 2:45pm and 4:15pm
Ask all those agricultural questions you have always wanted answers to or just sit back and listen. Two local farmers will “field” questions on agriculture from the audience.
On your way to the fair you may notice crops that definitely are not the traditional crops of corn and grains. Fields of sorghum and soybean are becoming a common sight in Lanark County. Come, see and touch soybean plants, oats, barley, corn and more.
Ever wondered how grass in the field becomes milk on your cereal, how eggs get to your breakfast plate – come “ask the farmers”!
