Mackenzie King Estate Family Event
From August 30 to September 1, 2014, 11 am to 6 pm
This long weekend, celebrate the end of summer with your family in the heart of Gatineau Park. From Saturday, August 30, to Monday, September 1, there will be lots of free activities for everyone at the Mackenzie King Estate.
At Kingswood
- Face painting for children (noon to 4 pm)
- Craft corner: make your mini-ruin
- Interpretation at the Kingswood cottage
At Moorside
- Carriage rides (noon to 4 pm)
- Exhibition of a Ford 1927 Model T (noon to 4 pm)
- Horticulture demonstrations and honey tasting with Sempels Honey
- Live music by Polished Brass Quintet (1 pm to 4 pm)
- Old-fashioned lawn games: croquet, horseshoe and bean bag toss
- Guided tours of the gardens (1 pm to 4 pm)
- Guided tours of the Waterfall trail (at 1 pm and 3 pm)
- Self-guided walks of the gardens, ruins and paths
- Interpretation at the Moorside cottage
- Canada’s Garden Route Contest
New thematic leaflets highlighting the recent restoration of the cottages and exhibits are available at the parking entrance.
The Tearoom and the snack bar will be open as per their usual hours. Visitors may also bring their own picnic.
Activities are free, but regular fees apply for site access by vehicle.
Please note that parkways in Gatineau Park are closed to vehicles on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
