Summer Museum of Nature Camps








Day camps at the Museum of Nature introduce your child to a world of discovery and fun—in a cool castle filled with dinosaurs, fossils, mammals and live creatures. Available July 7-August 22 2014. 

Ages: 6 to 14 
Nature Camp hours:am to 4 pm. Before- and after-camp daycare is available.
Location: At the museum (240 McLeod Street, Ottawa).
Each action-packed week includes
  • access to Creatures of Light, the museum's blockbuster exhibition
  • 3D movie
  • interactions with live animals
  • an opportunity to trade personally collected natural specimens at the Trading Post
  • exclusive gallery tours
  • daily outdoor activities.

Arctic
Explore one of Canada's coolest and least-known regions: the Arctic! Through museum exhibitions, scientific research and collections, campers will discover the amazing animals, exciting fossils and hardy plants of the Arctic.

Bioluminescence
The mysterious phenomenon of bioluminescence is illuminated in this camp. Campers will discover the variety of animals and plants that produce their own light (it's more than just fireflies!) They'll investigate how and why these impressive creatures glow.

Canada's Creatures
Animal enthusiasts will love getting up-close and interactive with the museum's live collection of critters. Campers will learn about proper animal care from the live specimen technicians, as well as how to create habitats for the different species—from slugs to frogs to tarantulas!

Dinosaurs and Fossils
Be awed by the huge, amazing, real specimens in the Talisman Energy Fossil Gallery. Learn what's involved in finding dinosaurs and other fossils in the field, collecting them and preparing them for public display. Touch a real 70-million-year-old fossil!
