Ottawa Symphony Orchestra-Inside the music

The Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with OrKidstra, will host an afternoon of free activities and an open rehearsal for music fans of all ages.

From 2:30 to 5 pm, experience a variety of activities, designed to introduce the public to some of the instruments found in an orchestra, featuring musicians from OrKidstra. Activities will include a musical show-and-tell, where participants will be able to learn about various instruments and try a few out for themselves, as well as an exciting opportunity to try their hand at conducting a small ensemble.

At 2:30 pm, the OSO will throw open the doors to Southam Hall for a peek into how the orchestra prepares for each concert. Participants will be able to hear and see Music Director David Currie as he puts the OSO musicians through their paces in preparation for the following night's concert, Fireworks!. At 4PM, guests will have the opportunity to view a demonstration of string instruments and a performance by Orkidstra.

Following the rehearsal, participants will have the opportunity to meet and speak with some of the OSO musicians, and indulge in light refreshments, generously provided by McKeen Metro Glebe.
