Community Cup at Brewer Park

Community Cup: Sat. June 28, 2014 at Brewer Park

Cossette-2011-Community-CupKick off your Canada Day weekend! The Community Cup, an Ottawa Festivals event based on integration through sport, gives newcomers and established Ottawa residents the chance to play soccer and build connections while spending a beautiful day in Brewer Park. The 7 on 7 recreational co-ed soccer tournament is the central activity, but Community Cup is more: it’s a one-day, free, multicultural, family-friendly event.
Participation in the youth tournament is free, includes a team t-shirt, and is run on a drop-in basis: no registration or equipment is necessary – simply drop by Brewer Park. Games get underway beginning at 8:30 a.m. Registration viawww.communitycup.ca is required for participation in the adult tournament.
This year’s installment of Community Cup will feature an official Citizenship Ceremony, in which 40 new immigrants will become Canadian citizens. Other highlights include live music and dance entertainment (with hints of multicultural flavours), a kids zone, as well as a full range of interactive demonstration sports, such as ultimate, speedminton, and chinlone.
Community Cup is proud to be a part of the closing ceremonies for Welcoming Ottawa Week (WOW), celebrating Ottawa’s diversity and extending the genuine welcome and hospitality of Ottawans to new immigrants. For more information, visit www.communitycup.ca.
