Although it's true, that it depends on the time of year as to where you will see the best sunsets (and the weather too, I suppose), one of my favorite places to watch in Ottawa is Britannia Beach.
Britannia Beach overlooking the Ottawa River gives off wonderful orange, yellow, red and purple hues during a summer sunset.
Why not bring a few lawn chairs or blankets and cuddle up and watch the sunset at the beach. The current sunset time is around 8:55pm, and will get a little earlier each day of the summer. There are many other beautiful and free places to watch the sunset. such as the Ottawa River Parkway, Bate Island, Victoria Island and I'm sure the list goes on.
