CP Canada 150 Train in Ottawa

In recognition of Canada’s 150th birthday, CP invites communities to come together and celebrate. Just as the railway connected Canada, the CP Canada 150 Train events will reconnect all generations of Canadians through shared stories of the country’s past; acknowledging heroes and leaders of today; and building optimism for the future.

Celebrate with us at our three-hour event featuring:

**** HERITAGE TRAIN ****

Iconic diesel locomotive CP 1401 (1958) will lead the train, powering more than 10 beautifully restored Royal Canadian Pacific heritage cars (1916-1931). As the train makes its way across the country, it will be the exclusive event backdrop for photographers and admirers alike. Also included in the train is CP’s exclusive retrofitted stage car from which event-goers will be treated to a truly Canadian performance. To preserve the vintage nature of the cars and carry out a safe event, tours will not be available.

**** CONCERT ****

DALLAS ARCAND
Aboriginal entertainer and world champion hoop dancer Dallas Arcand will open the stage show with his world-renowned athleticism and grace, sharing the symbolism of the hoop dance and its significance in aboriginal communities

DEAN BRODY

Country music superstar Dean Brody from Jaffray, B.C. is an arena touring act, with 13 Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA) and two Junos under his studded belt. In 2016, he closed out the CCMA’s with four awards for his platinum-selling single, “Bring Down the House” and the most recent Juno win for 2016 Country Album of the Year, Gypsy Road.

**** FAMILY FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES ****

This family-friendly occasion has something for Canadians of all ages and there are a number of activities to explore during the three-hour event. History buffs will delight in seeing images and facts pulled from CP’s archives, and kids of all ages can design their very own conductor’s hat as a memento of the day. Complimentary treats will also be available while supplies last.

**** SPIRIT OF TOMORROW CAR ****

The future of Canada and the railroad industry will be shaped by today’s youth. At each stop, CP will give young Canadians a forum for their hopes and dreams for Canada’s future with the Spirit of Tomorrow, a rail car decorated with a growing mosaic of their words. Their messages will be affixed to the sides of this special railcar and as the CP Canada 150 Train makes its journey across the country, the Spirit of Tomorrow will come alive. The car will be included in CP’s Holiday Train program for 2017, giving all Canadians a chance to view the final creation.

**** LITTLE GENERAL MINI-TRAIN **** {some locations only}

Don’t miss your chance to check out CP’s miniature train – a 1⁄4 scale model of a General Electric AC4400 locomotive. The Little General might steal the show as it winds its way through the crowd, hosting passengers of all sizes. Riders must complete waivers before boarding and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

**** CONTEST ****

To further celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday and to recognize the people, families and communities that helped shape the nation, CP is running a contest to learn “What’s your railway legacy?” From stories of sacrifice, bravery, ingenuity, even romance, authors of the two most compelling true short stories will win the experience of a lifetime including a two day, two night, all-expense paid trip for two aboard the CP Canada 150 Train, with five-star hospitality from the Royal Canadian Pacific. Visit cpconnectingcanada.ca to enter. Contest closes July 31, 2017.
