FREE Summer Activity #11- Summer Reading list

With all the hustle and bustle of summer activities, it is important to sit down and relax to right? Well why not relax with a good book.

Why not create a family summer book club. Make a list of books you all want to read and sit down once a week at dinner or in the evening to discuss them . You can adjust this to fit any age groups ( maybe you will sit down and read the books to your children if they aren't of reading age ) or you can choose more complicated novels with older children. You can pick from your home library or go to the library and pick one each.

Some of my favorites as a kid:

  • The Giver
  • The Golden Compass
  • Alice and Wonderland
  • Anne of Green Gables
  • The Hobbit
  • Charlotte's Web
  • The Velveteen Rabbit
  • Angel Square (based in Ottawa in the 1950s)
There are thousands to pick from, and some of the more adventurous novels can keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more.

What would be on your reading list?
