Skating the Canal
The Skate way stretches over 7 kilometres from downtown next to the National Arts Centre, south to Dow's Lake Pavilion. The world's largest skating rink!

The skate way is typically open January and February depending on the weather.Picnic tables and food and beverage vendors, change rooms, chalets and bathrooms are located on the ice near the following:
- Mackenzie King Bridge
- Concord Street
- Fifth Avenue
- Bronson Avenue
- Dow's Lake Pavilion
Skate and Sleigh Rentals, Skate Sharpening are available at the following locations:
- Mackenzie King Bridge
Mondays to Sundays, 10 am to 10 pm - Fifth Avenue
Fridays, 6 pm to 10 pm
Saturdays and Sundays, 10 am to 10 pm - Dow's Lake
Mondays to Fridays, 9:30 am to 10 pm
Saturdays, 9 am to 10 pm
Sundays, 9 am to 10 pm
If you are not up for skating you can walk the canal or better yet try a sleigh ride down the canal
- $60 for a 60-minute tour
- $30 for a 30-minute tour
- $15 for a 15-minute tour
Sleigh rides are available Friday, 4 pm to 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 8 pm
