Alcatel-Lucent Sunday Bike Days
Cycling on Parkways in Ottawa and Gatineau Park
Alcatel-Lucent Sunday Bikedays takes place Sunday mornings, from Victoria Day weekend to Labour Day weekend. Over 50 kilometres of parkways in Ottawa and Gatineau Park are reserved for cyclists, in-line skaters, runners and walkers.
Experience the beauty of Canada’s Capital Region in a fun and environmentally friendly way. Take the parkways and cycle along the Rideau Canal or the Ottawa River, or through beautiful Gatineau Park.
The program is sponsored by Alcatel-Lucent, and runs mainly through the support of volunteers.
Note: Scooter-type power-assisted bikes are not allowed on the parkways while they are closed for Alcatel-Lucent Sunday Bikedays.
Parkways Reserved for Alcatel-Lucent Sunday Bikedays
In Ottawa
9 am to 1 pm
- Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway (9 kilometres)
- Colonel By Drive (8 kilometres)
- Rockcliffe Parkway (8 kilometres)
Alcatel-Lucent Sunday Bikedays is cancelled on Colonel By Drive, Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway and Rockcliffe Parkway on Sunday, May 25, for the National Capital Race Weekend.
In Gatineau Park
6 am to 11 am — 27 kilometres for cyclists who enjoy steep hills!
- Gatineau Parkway
- Champlain Parkway
- Fortune Lake Parkway
6 am to 1 pm — 3.5 kilometres north of Meech Lake Road (parking lot P8). This section is ideal for families with young children.
